Devlog 11: The big finale!

Welcome to the final devlog for our incredible game! It's been an exciting journey filled with creativity, challenges, and hours of hard work. We are thrilled to present the summit of our efforts as we put the finishing touches on our pièce de resistance.

In this devlog, we'll delve into the attention to detail that went into perfecting every aspect of the game. From fine-tuning the controls to enhancing the visual effects, we've left no stone unturned in our quest for perfection.

Join us as we bid farewell to this phase of our game's development. We're proud of what we've accomplished, and we can't wait for you to experience the polished and refined gameplay. So sit back, grab a virtual popcorn, and submerge yourself in the final devlog for our game, as we prepare to release it into the hands of players worldwide.

Visuals

One important element we needed for our game was a captivating logo that would represent our title and incorporate all of our mechanics. One of our artist invested their creative energy into designing a logo that features charming illustrations representing each aspect of the game, all centered around the title.

In addition to the grand logo design, we also focused on perfecting smaller details that contribute to the overall player experience. One such detail was creating a thumbs-up icon to indicate when a player has successfully selected their character. This small visual cue adds a touch of satisfaction and clarity to the character selection process.

Polishing involves the execution of numerous small tasks, each with the potential to make a significant impact on the overall game experience. Here's a brief overview of the visually transformative tasks we undertook during this phase:

- Finished the outside by adding more bushes and grave stones.

- Made the background for the controls menu in the game.

- Made arrow icons to use in the character selection part to show the exorcists where to put the dolls.

- A whole redesign for the character selection layout:

VFX and animation

VFX and animation adds a lot of player feedback and satisfaction which is necessary in any game that exists. That's why we've put a lot of attention into these little details:

- Smoke puffs when an object is thrown against an object or wall

- Cursed/cleansed aura around dolls

- When winning:

    1) Fireworks around the map

    2) Pop up animation

Ofcourse there are much more VFX and animation than these but we can't show them all in this devlog. I guess you'll just have to play the game to see them... ;)

Sound

A game needs sound, so to set the tone, we have a calming music track for the game menu. This background music creates a serene and inviting ambiance as players navigate through the menus and make their selections.

For the general gameplay, we've have an upbeat and dynamic music tracks. These lively tunes accompany gameplay sequences that require a sense of thrill and action, intensifying the overall experience.

To add suspense and heighten tension, we added a tension sound that triggers when the game timer reaches below 30 seconds. This auditory cue serves as a reminder of the dwindling time, increasing the sense of urgency and engagement.

Lastly, we designed a triumphant sound that plays upon winning the game. This celebratory audio cue rewards players for their accomplishments, adding a satisfying auditory element to their success.
